What is the influence of the Industrial Internet and cyber-physical systems on the processes, methods and strategies in the maintenance sector? What are the trends, threads and oppor-tunities for the sector with regard to the intrusion of Internet technologies into manufacturing plants? What is the role of the Internet of Things for the future of maintenance? An exploratory study, „Maintenance 4.0“, gives answers to these questions. The talk pre-sents the results of a trend analysis, shows future maintenance scenarios and presents technological foundations including IoT approaches.
